Looking forward to a great two days @STLinATL // Thanks @WoodwardAcademy and @CWhiteTech for hosting. Love hearing @dylanwiliam kick off the conference on feedback that moves learning forward…directly connected to my 9:30am session today on strategic conferring with writers!
#GAsen#GApol#Georgia For everyone, it’s been a long “election season.” But today, as I neared the end of my work as a poll observer on Runoff Election Day in GA, a familiar face — with an infectious spirit (even under that mask!) — waltzed 💞💚into the polls...(cont’d)
@aishacs Brickhill Bluff (primitive) is my favorite spot to camp there. You will have a blast any(every)where on the island, and if later in the year, less buggy which is a big win! (BTW: my son loves your books!) it’s totally doable to rent kayaks in SM and kayak to your campsite too!
@JAlbrecht_EDU @JackieWoodson Haha! Glad to help you sleep! It was super fun to do...and I think that he has read all but the WG in a week, so it was certainly motivating and interesting for him! Will do it again!
It’s a New Kid, Look Both Ways, Westing Game, Saving Winslow combo. Creech’s animal poetry is tops (“Love that dog like a bird loves to fly” = his constant saying!), he dove headfirst into Parker Inheritance (thus WG), and of course JasonReynolds83 + @JackieWoodson = excellence!
TY @rosettalee for the “lunch & learn” my rising 7th grader and I had today. Your #STLinATL keynote paired such incredible research w/ your thoughtful storytelling in a way that made an impact. You helped us continue the conversations we have been having in a more powerful way.
I didn’t realize it when planning, but today’s #STLinATL preso was bookended by “grace” & “peace.” Honored to share @itsmorgancom’s good words (+art) w/ dedicated educators who did some writing of their own as they plan to use the narrative UOS to launch #writersworkshop. Onward!
New puppy problems...she’s not the best co-worker...yet! Putting the finishing touches on my workshops for #STLinATL, and it sounded like Tippet was happily chewing the piece of ice I *kindly* gave her. Not quite. Just the end of my computer charger!
@JackieWoodson My 7th grade stepson just finished *your* Harbor Me. I did this for him! He was worried that after Harbor Me (& The Parker Inheritance) he wouldn’t find a book as good! This was a fun way to change things up...
And, by the way, we are so grateful to have YOUR words in our lives!
Hey @mrronclark_, it’s not a surprise, but T is loving your STEM camp this week! We also have lost all access to our back door in hopes that his #RubeGoldbergMachine effectively feeds Tippet a treat as she “kennels up.” Very “TBD” at this point, but full engagement for sure!
At this moment, I feel not only honored and humbled, but also committed to walking in his long and powerful shadow to do good and right for this world. #RIPJohnLewis
#RIPJohnLewis I can’t decide which memory is most cherished. #JohnLewis met my class of Atlanta Youth Academy chaperones & fifth graders on the steps of the Capitol, in his office, or for a Capitol tour...and always for hours at a time. What a blessing to be in his presence.(1/2)
Agreed.
100%.
For me, it’s readings from the year-long PSL cohort (2009-10). Relevant, bold, and rooted in the power of relationships. I wonder how many of those rdgs overlap btw the summer institute and the M.A. program. Either way, grateful that @KlingensteinCtr exists!
It’s not yet Father’s Day, but this guy knew a mask was cool before masks were cool (and essential)...grateful for this amazing dad who loves, plays, laughs, sings, celebrates, listens,… https://t.co/VkuwKeFC4Y
