Released on August 28, 1981, HELL NIGHT sent a group of college students into a supposedly haunted mansion for a night of initiation that quickly becomes a terrifying fight for survival.
Directed by Tom DeSimone and starring Linda Blair, Vincent Van Patten, Peter Barton, and Kevin Brophy, the film follows four fraternity and sorority pledges who are required to spend the night inside the abandoned Garth Manor. According to local legend, the mansion was the site of a horrific family murder years earlier. While their friends plan elaborate scares outside, the pledges soon discover that something very real is stalking them through the darkened halls and hidden passages of the estate.
A Bit of Trivia: HELL NIGHT was filmed at several locations around Southern California, with the imposing Kimberly Crest mansion in Redlands providing the exterior of Garth Manor. Linda Blair reportedly performed much of her own physical work during the demanding production, and the film's combination of gothic atmosphere and early 1980s slasher conventions has helped it develop a devoted cult following.
