Eskom was informed of a public fatality in Khayelitsha last night, which resulted in a power supply interruption from approximately 20:00.
The fatality was directly linked to theft and vandalism of electricity infrastructure, which has left more than 18,000 customers without electricity.
The outage has affected the following areas since 20:00 last night:
Sections A, B, C, D, E, G, H, I and J

Day Hospital
BP Garage
Nonkqubela Station
Nonkqubela Shopping Centre
Boxer
Egwaveni
Site B Chemist
Pick n Pay
BM Section

Eskom technical teams are working tirelessly to restore electricity supply. Due to the severity of the fault, an estimated time of restoration (ETR) has not yet been established.
Customers are urged to treat all electrical appliances and installations as live throughout the duration of the outage.
Eskom apologises for the inconvenience and appreciates customers' patience and understanding while restoration efforts continue.
