BREAKING NEWS; When you start making good money, avoid showing anyone. Family, friends or strangers. Always pretend you don't have money. Even when your pockets are overflowing. You'll thank me later.
Let us be clear.
The issues raised by DP Gachagua on the neglect of our people in North Eastern Kenya: the drought, the absence of roads, lack of electricity, inadequate water and lack of opportunities for our young people, are all legitimate.
I have witnessed this first hand during my on-going road trip in the region, the #UkatibaCaravan
Of course, you would not know this, President Ruto, because you fly to the region in helicopters and address manufactured crowds where you only give the microphone to pre-arranged speakers like Duale to speak.
You do not engage directly with our people. You are out of touch.
And to the GenZ who aspire to be more financially disciplined:
1. Open a Money Market Account and deposit a fixed amount on a monthly basis.
Since you are younger, you can even invest in riskier options like stock markets!
2. Join a Sacco early enough- become a member and get involved in matters of the Sacco building not only your net-worth but also your net-work
3. Work hard to increase your income - learn an extra skill. If you have a business idea, bring it to life, work with what you have
4. Cut down on the sherehe if you can. You don't have to party every other weekend
5. Lastly, take care of your health. Without good health, you will not enjoy your wealth.
If you are a doer, you are more likely to:
Set clear financial goals and review them often
Build and maintain an emergency fund
Stick to a budget
Track your spending
Live within your means
Seek ways to grow your income
Avoid lifestyle inflation as your income grows
Repay your credit card balance in full and on time
Invest consistently in stocks, even when there is volatility
Deposit money into MMF each month
Make regular contributions to retirement savings
