Following confirmation that the Russian Federation was responsible for the acts of sabotage in Tallinn on 14–15 August, Portugal reaffirms its full solidarity with Estonia 🇪🇪.

The unity and determination of the Allies are the strongest response to any attempt at destabilisation. Standing with them, Portugal remains steadfast and unwavering in its support for 🇺🇦 Ukraine.

Based on the information collected by the Estonian Internal Security Service @kaitsepolitsei we can conclude with certainty that the arson attack on Milrem Robotics premises that took place on the night of 14–15 august in Tallinn was an act of sabotage ordered by the special services of the Russian Federation.

Such actions are absolutely unacceptable. In response, the @MFAestonia will today summon Russia’s Chargé d’affaires.

The perpetrators have been apprehended and no longer pose a threat to our national security. Estonia is a difficult environment for Russia to carry out such actions because we act decisively and swiftly to protect our state.

This act of sabotage is part of Russia’s broader campaign across Europe, aimed at intimidating us and weakening our support for Ukraine.

Our response will be the opposite. We will increase both our support for Ukraine and the pressure on Russia to end its aggression.

Let’s not lose focus and stay the course, because Russia’s actions are a clear indication that our collective exertion of pressure is working.

O Governo e os sindicatos representativos dos professores e leitores de português no estrangeiro chegaram a acordo sobre o novo Regime do Ensino de Português no Estrangeiro (RJEPE), que prevê aumentos remuneratórios acumulados, na grande maioria dos casos, de cerca de 20% entre 2027 e 2029.

A revisão da tabela remuneratória representa um investimento adicional de cerca de 8,6 milhões de euros, incluindo encargos sociais, e valoriza os profissionais que asseguram a presença e a projeção da língua e da cultura portuguesas em todo o mundo.

O novo regime reforça, assim, o compromisso do Governo com a valorização dos profissionais, a qualidade e a sustentabilidade da rede de Ensino de Português no Estrangeiro.

At the United Nations, MFA @PauloRangel_pt met with the Foreign Minister of Oman 🇴🇲, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi @badralbusaidi, continuing the regular dialogue initiated at the meeting between the two Ministers in Munich in February.

At a time of profound instability in the Middle East, Portugal values Oman’s diplomatic role and its efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and create conditions for a return to the negotiating table.

During its upcoming term on the UN Security Council 🇺🇳, Portugal wants to work closely with Oman and Arab countries, making diplomacy, mediation and conflict prevention central instruments for peace and security in the Middle East.

Nas Nações Unidas, o MNE @PauloRangel_pt reuniu-se com o MNE de Omã 🇴🇲 Sayyid Badr Albusaidi @badralbusaidi, continuando o diálogo regular que havia sido iniciado desde o encontro dos dois Ministros em Munique, em fevereiro.

Num momento de profunda instabilidade no Médio Oriente, Portugal valoriza o papel diplomático do Omã e os seus esforços para reabrir o Estreito de Ormuz e criar condições para o regresso à mesa das negociações.

No próximo mandato no CSNU 🇺🇳 Portugal quer trabalhar estreitamente com o Omã e com os países árabes, fazendo da diplomacia, da mediação e da prevenção de conflitos instrumentos centrais para a paz e segurança no Médio Oriente.

In New York, MFA @PauloRangel_pt met with Comfort Ero, President and CEO of @CrisisGroup, as part of preparations for Portugal’s 2027-2028 term on the UN Security Council.

Conflict prevention, early warning and developments in major international crises were at the centre of the discussion, in a dialogue that Portugal intends to maintain throughout its term on the Security Council.

On one of the most sensitive dossiers on the international agenda, Portugal reaffirmed one conviction: even in the face of profound disagreements, channels of communication must remain open, and diplomacy and dialogue must prevail over escalating tensions.

Freedom of navigation, International Law, nuclear non-proliferation and the protection of civilians will also be among Portugal’s priorities during its upcoming term on the UNSC.

In January 2027, Portugal will assume the Presidency of the Council.

Num dos dossiers mais sensíveis da agenda internacional, Portugal reafirmou uma convicção: mesmo perante profundas divergências, os canais de comunicação devem permanecer abertos e a diplomacia e o diálogo devem prevalecer sobre a escalada de tensão.

Liberdade de navegação, Direito Internacional, não proliferação nuclear e proteção de civis serão também preocupações de Portugal no próximo mandato no CSNU.

MFA @PauloRangel_pt participated, at the United Nations, in the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

One year after the New York Declaration, Portugal reaffirms its commitment to the two-state solution and to turning words into concrete action.

🇺🇳 During its upcoming term on the UNSC, Portugal will remain committed to diplomacy, dialogue and the implementation of UN resolutions, so that a sovereign and democratic State of Palestine can live in peace and security alongside Israel.
