@Wattenberger As a fiber artist this is actually a pretty big bummer that you'd take an incredibly tactile, time-consuming, skill-intensive art and use AI to mimic it.
@oldenoughtosay@ChiodoAccord Cool! Are there experts that are talking about the technical skill of this that you'd recommend looking at for their opinions? (Alas, I do not have the money for an art degree, but someone's gotta be out there breaking it down for us Casuals lmao)
@oldenoughtosay@ChiodoAccord Genuine question: what are the standards of Western art? I'm a casual art-enjoyer, so I look at it and see Ugly - but if it's technically-sound I'd like to learn to hone my eye for technique?
@ktb38 Having done several tests, you Very Quickly figure out who does this this right way. Hats-off to @Victoria_Knits for having a well-run test knit, though - she clearly cared about her testers and had a tech-edited pattern and good test environment!
@ktb38 If folks are catching 10+ errors, yeah.... For your situation, if it impacts the form or look of the project, I'd probably restart. It's frustrating as all get-out, though.
@ktb38 I've done a couple of test knits where I ran into a ton of errors; one I stopped because I saw how the item turndd out by someone else and REFUSED to waste yarn on it, and the other I pressed through but definitely doubt they do "tech editing" like they claimed.
@mrs_twill I don't see anyone calling that specific post a threat. More accurately, it is part of an ongoing backlash against someone trying to query information from a community. And why is mockery an acceptable reaction to someone who states they're distressed?
@ChupacabraDt Woof. Deep sympathies - I think people don't realize how damaging that vitriol can be. Gonna be honest, this just kind of cements the impression I had of that whole sphere. Nice but unkind. I think you've been doing hard but fair work and it's a shame folks react like this.
@discord Are you kidding? No, I don't want my text, voice, or video being used for machine learning. I ditched Skype for Discord, I'll leave you if I need to. I've still got IRC clients, I'll go back to them like the cockroach I am.
