I want to apologize about a bit of our silence or loss of momentum.

As an artist it is challenging to maintain being chipper and innovative/creative during what is essentially a long term burnout.

I love what I do as a creative, but it feels like even some of our best isn’t getting traction and admittedly things have slowed down a lot on our end.

I know a lot of it has to do with budget for everyone right now too, I think everyone is feeling a pinch and it’s an election year on top of it (no politics, just fact there) and times are tough for many. (Sometimes us included! Lots of things breaking lately, which is not convenient lol).

I’m …not really sure what to create right now, or what is actually going to sell vs what is being requested.

Most requests have been on old models in our queue due for remaster and haven’t been teased, which we have had in cryostasis for some time due to mold complications, lack of past interest, or just lack of resources (mainly my -Ere’s- time) to produce.

I’m still trekking on the best I’m able to bring remasters and some new models to life and to stay true to fun, detailed and nicely crafted models.

Admittedly I’m quite hesitant to jump on the trend of simplifying toys to human models or low texture things since- it wasn’t really our vision from the start. A lot of our stuff doesn’t also match the sort of toony stylized vibe I see a lot, and I suppose I’m self conscious that going the direction I have isn’t “cute” or as marketable.

I feel if we switched, it would take the aesthetics that make my style unique (at least to me I hope?) and make them feel more like product than the unique art I want to create. And really truly love the perfectly imperfect flair of some things. (Outside of flops of course!)

When starting XCA I always had the vision to make believable and nicely textured alien companions. All with fleshed out lore, thoughtful art and unique stories that make our characters not just fuck toys, but their own lovable personalities.

I guess I’m just wanting to say, I’ve been feeling uninspired and depressed. And it’s been hard to want to stay motivated to create when even at my best abilities and with the growth I’ve managed to do with my sculpts and pours to really feel like the labor isnt at all equal to the scrolling interest.

We’re all tired and see so much every day. Post after post, everyone wants you to buy something. All valid, but it blends together. Everyone seems burnt out in some way or another.

I absolutely appreciate the hell out of those who share beautiful pics of any of their toys, fun memes, stories, words and encouragements, thank you for helping keep the community positive and colorful!

I just miss the comments, the excitement or interest and it feels like everything has gotten like… weirdly specific or critical? I just always feel a bit lost.

I’ve seen a lot of makers lately send out subtle similar messages for help or engagement. With T*itter being the way it is, and having to constantly migrate and adapt it just gets exhausting. I feel like everytime something happens and there’s an exodus anywhere else, things don’t quite recover and get a bit more broken.

Theres several places that have simply disappeared. Artists who didn’t really even feel the want anymore to announce their departure. It was someone’s passion once.

I suppose if I can request any one thing?

Please give your favorite makers some love. Doesn’t even have to be us, I’ll speak for a lot of folks gently at this moment that- We could use it right about now.

(Likes, comments especially, shares, toy reviews, anything like that could be a boost or morale spike folks need.)
