MINNEAPOLIS: Multiple agencies and SWAT are on scene after a shooting and apparent hostage situation inside an apartment near E. 28th Street and Nicollet Ave. An armed male suspect has fired several gunshots from a 3rd-floor window toward officers, though there are no injuries confirmed as of now.

According to police radio dispatches, the suspect's girlfriend and a child may have been taken hostage inside the apartment unit. The incident apparently started as a warrant service attempt, with the suspect opening fire from inside the unit.

The suspect is described as a white male around 6’ and with a history of previous assault charges. He has reportedly threatened to use “grenades” against responders and multiple negotiators are now on scene. Avoid the area until the situation is resolved.
