In @WHAH_cong experts from UHAD worldwide @davidlevinemd, @Dnicolasocejo, @ManuelMiron5, @rafajimepe It was an honor to share our experience in virtual care with @Mmirmon. Three key points:
✅ Home hospitalization is essential
✅ Technology is key
✅ Add value
Strong case presented at #WHAHC23 to agree a common definition of #HospitalAtHome#HaH. UK participants at this international conference agree @NHSEngland should drop the term virtual ward.
Interesting findings from the @UCalgary study - overall length of stay longer in H@H due to early supported discharge cohort.
Patients treated as admission avoidance show equivalent length of stay
Great work from Dr Jillian Walsh
#WHAHC23
Excellent presentation by Dr. Jillian Walsh on the economic evaluation of the first two start up years of Calgary’s Complex Care Hub Hospital at Home Program.
Costs of Hospital at Home care were overall equivalent to matched cohorts, but with greater savings for admission avoidance.
Patient experience is much higher - so quality is improved without increasing costs.
Increasing Admission Avoidance may reduce costs in Canada
