fair, but profit and viability aren’t the same thing. Amazon didn’t turn a full-year profit until 2003, almost a decade after launch, while quietly eating retail alive. the radiologist said it would “fail miserably and harm people,” not “won’t be profitable.” revenue isn’t profit, and neither tells you if the thing actually works.

fair, and honestly the sharpest reply in here. a consumer chatbot isn’t the same as diagnostic accuracy, agreed. but the post was never really about chatgpt, it was about the reflex of an expert calling a new thing dead on arrival. and imaging AI isn’t “first try” anything, it’s trained against millions of labeled scans vs ground truth, and narrow vision models already match or beat radiologists on specific catches.

that’s a culture take, not a capability take. totally different argument. Socrates said writing would rot our memory, every generation since said the same about TV, calculators, google. the dad didn’t say it’ll make us dumb, he said it won’t work.
those two claims age very, very differently.
