Rethinking Disaster Preparedness in India (01)
In DRR it’s a myth, that impact mitigation demands big budgets.
It’s not true - small, smart & cost-effective steps can save lives.The key lies in scalable, sustainable & local innovations that empower people before disaster strikes.

Air Pollution Mitigation: Long-term exposure to polluted air can have permanent health effects such as: Accelerated aging of the lungs, Loss of lung capacity and decreased lung function, Development of diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and possibly cancer etc.
Increasing Air Pollution-03: PM 2.5 remains hanged in the atmosphere for 90 days. They move with only 17cm/hr and can reach up to the heights of 1 km. PM 2.5 intermix with blood easily and create adverse impact on health – the cardiovascular/carcinogenic conditions.
Air Pollution;
• Our priorities are misplaced by saying that parali is only reason for smog while vehicular pollution, inversion, metrological conditions, particulate matter etc. should also be given equal weightage.
DRR-Change of Season, Increasing Air Pollution-01:
• There is a need of science cum policy integrated approach to curb the problem of pollution. Researchers need to come up with innovative ways in contributing the cause of reducing air pollution across India.

Structural Retrofitting: Adherence to right procedures to ensure improvement in performance is must. Distress points like corrosion, grade of concrete and seepage. Differentiate between repairs, rehabilitation, reconstruction and retrofitting.
Structural Retrofitting: Road ahead through CB, mod of existing codes and guidelines and simultaneously bring forth new codes. Guidelines for different typologies , better seismological data needs to be generated.
