Last night marked a milestone for Minnesota public education. The Legislature passed the Permanent School Fund Constitutional Amendment, sending the question to Minnesota voters in November 2026.
The Minnesota School Boards Association has been selected by Meet Minneapolis to receive the Excellence in Meetings, Events & Conventions Award, recognizing organizations that contribute to the vitality of the Minneapolis community.
This recognition represents the collective impact of school board members, district leaders, business partners, and MSBA staff who come together each year for the MSBA Leadership Conference. Their shared commitment to strong governance, continuous learning, and public education is what makes this work meaningful.
Thank you to everyone who helps make the Leadership Conference, and this recognition, possible!

MSBA Executive Director Kirk Schneidawind testified on SF 2909 on Tuesday, April 28, during a Minnesota Senate Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee hearing. This bill creates the Educator Group Insurance Program (EGIP) and dissolves the Public Employee Insurance Program (PEIP), and allows its members to move to EGIP. On behalf of MSBA members, Kirk raised concerns about the bill's potential impact on school employees and districts. Skip to the 1:42:00 mark to watch Kirk's testimony.
