I used to have a hard time understanding how Christians allowed Hitler to come to power, and used the Bible to justify his reign of terror. Not anymore. https://t.co/KtKuizFzkw
It is no longer Christianity when the gun replaces the cross. And we cannot carry a cross in one hand and a gun in the other. It is impossible to love our enemies and simultaneously prepare to kill them. For Christ we can die, but we cannot kill.
To those who say: “It’s not a gun problem, it’s a heart problem”...

And people change laws.
We need both.

The Church is the conscience of the State, not its servant.
When Christianity became the religion of the empire, it started reading the Gospel from the position of maintaining power and social order. But there is power in powerlessness: https://t.co/KPhbJJBaVB
"It is easier to go on repeating outworn slogans, to go on using pious language, than to confound fossilized orthodoxy with living faith. It is a paradox: unless you're prepared to run the risk of being a heretic, you have little chance of arriving at the truth" William Barclay
