Mark Barden captured this image of his son Daniel on the morning of December 14, 2012, while preparing him for school. Tragically, later that morning, Daniel, along with 19 classmates and six staff members from Sandy Hook Elementary School, fell victim to a wicked act of violence.

Earlier that morning, 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed his mother and then made his way to the Elementary school to carry out the deranged act. Lanza shot himself before police arrived.
