๐ Referee announced for 2026 #SuperCup!
We're pleased to share that Somali referee Omar Artan will officiate the highly anticipated match between PSG and Aston Villa in Salzburg.
@Steve38355404@_BellaM_@GovernmentZA eNews needs the hits. There's no way they will not platform people like these. As it is, I'm sure many media platforms are on their knees for an interview.
@Tom47096338@MickyJnr__ Micky is spreading fake news. Canada granted Omar entry to officiate matches in Vancouver. But because the US denied his entry due to "vetting concerns," FIFA subsequently dropped him from the WC. It's misleading that Omar can now officiate in Canada. The US is the only key ๐๏ธ
@Sophie_Mokoena This is fake news. Canada granted entry to him to officiate matches in Vancouver. However, because the US denied his entry due to "vetting concerns," FIFA subsequently dropped him from the World Cup. It's a lie that the issue is resolved and that he's on his way back to the WC.
@JoyfulWarrior91@muheediva01 You are broadening a very specific issue. Somalis are a problem even in my country. I'm only asking about Omar, who was granted a Visa in the US Emb. with the same travel docs, but was denied entry in Miami. He's not a refugee nor an asylum. He is a verifiable FIFA-Cert official
@bilo12_5@PPokaner@MickyJnr__ If it's true that Canada would allow him in the country, then that was just a PR stunt.
FIFA wants ALL officials in ONE base, and that's in Miami, US. You can't have an official based in Canada while ALL the others are in Miami.
@GordonFielden The World Cup is actually exposing just how bad of a country the USA is under Trump. A FIFA-Certified Referee being denied entry to the United States purely because he is Somali. Think about that.
@darioschramm Pity that the Germans aren't as vocal this time around as the Qatar WC. @ToniKroos bombarded the world as some sort of activist. Today, his head - along with other Gernans - is buried in the sand.
@HawkeyeMogul@DrTedros If that's indeed true, then why was he granted Visa by the very same Americans, at the Embassy - only to be denied access in Miami? Whatever credentials he used to get the Visa, would be the same he would present on landing in Miami.
