11/ Meanwhile, Iran — which is an NPT signatory — faces crippling sanctions, sabotage, and war threats without any proof of a nuclear weapons program.
This is the glaring hypocrisy of U.S. foreign policy. If we were honest, the real questions would be aimed at Israel — for the theft, the deception, the unchecked arsenal, & for plunging the region into utter chaos.
Had a Palestinian done this to an Israeli, it would be awful. And all Western media would have it on their first page.
And this is not even the most shocking thing I have seen today. Just the last one.
@nytimes@washingtonpost@guardian@repubblica@lemondefr
Palestinian photographer Fatima Hassouna announced her documentary will be screened at France film festival.
Within hours Israel murdered her and her entire family of 10.
I force myself to repeat it, again and again.
The destruction of a group as such, of a people as such (i.e. a genocide) can unfold in many horrific forms—through crematoria, machetes, bombs, and more. It’s not the method of destruction: it is the intent to destroy/annihilate a targeted group, that defines it. Israel has so far chosen bombs, starvation, torture, and many other methods. Question is: when are we going to stop it?
In full of view of the world, the West has normalised destroying hospitals, butchering children, deliberately starving civilians, torture and rape - and endless other atrocities.
For the West, this is the sowing. The coming harvest will be bitter.
⚡️BREAKING: At least 356 Palestinians, mostly children, have been killed since the early hours of the morning due to Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza following Netanyahu’s decision to end the ceasefire with the full support of U.S president Donald Trump.
It’s 3 AM local time in Gaza, and there are more than 100 bombings across the strip. We have all woken up because it feels like a strong earthquake. The Israeli government has decided to resume this genocide and break the ceasefire.
Time to clarify WHERE Zionists "believe Israel has the right to exist".
OPTION 1: On the land taken by force from the Palestinians in 1947-1949? Israel already exists on that land! The tantrums and fuss about it - while an entire people is being annihilated - is utterly unsufferable.
2. OPTION 2: everywhere "from the river to the sea"? That is false: The State of Israel has NO right to exist in Gaza, east Jerusalem, and the West Bank (land where Palestinians have exclusive right to self-determination in the form of independent statehood). It is flagrantly unlawful, violates UN Charter, customary IL, ICJ jurisprudence, and much more.
❌GENOCIDE ALERT!❌Israel cutting off electricity supplies to Gaza means, among others, no functioning desalination stations, ergo: no clean water.
STILL NO SANCTION/NO ARMS EMBARGO against Israel means, among others, AIDING AND ASSISTING Israel in the commission of one of the most preventable genocides of our history.
Fully closing down Gaza AGAIN, while resuming hostilities, is much more than a violation of the ceasefire. It is an escalation of Israel's genocidal campaign against the Palestinians.
NB.Israel has violated the #ceasefire multiple times:
- killing 100+ Palestinians in Gazs including children (on top of those killed in the West Bank)
- slowing down entry of aid truck
- limiting entry of tents & denying entry of mobile homes (while children continued to freeze to death)
- refusing release of prisoners and hostages.
It is never too late to hold Israel accountable. May this Ramadan be the time the Palestinians see the int'l community lift itself up from the floor of history.
Incredible to see Israeli leaders shamelessly admitting 75% of Gazans are refugees whom Israel kicked out of "Haifa, Tiberias, Acre, Jaffa..." & stole their homes
So why do they now have to be kicked out of Gaza instead of allowing them to return to their dispossessed homes?
These stories will get no media coverage. There will be no individual profiles or details about the emotional reunion of a mother with her children, after being held captive by Israel.
Because Palestinians are not treated as equal human beings, worthy of empathy or compassion.
Must read: Absolutely devastating piece in @guardian detailing some of the torture inflicted on Palestinian health workers by Israel:
- Abductions from the operating room
- Being stripped and kept in the cold
- Beatings to the point of being unable to walk
- Teeth being broken
- Rapes
- Murders
- Starvation
- Sleep derivation
- Being blindfolded and restrained for >100 days
Not one of these health workers has been charged with any crime.
One surgeon, Dr. Abu Ajwa was told by Israeli personnel that they wanted to make his hands not functional.
‘Since he was released from detention, Abu Ajwa has not managed to fix his broken teeth but has gone back to work in Gaza’s shattered healthcare system.
“As for the interrogator who was determined to make me lose sensation in my hands, I say: ‘no matter what you do … I am a doctor, and I will practice my profession. I will always continue, until my last breath, to be in the operating theatre.’”’
The situation in Jenin is beyond catastrophic.
Thousands have been displaced (likewise in Tulkarem and Tubas) & if families return to the camp to gather some belongings their homes are unrecognisable.
We managed to only see the edges of the camp and tanks are stationed at the outskirts on top of the camp.
People keep saying “where do we go? We are stranded and Ramadan is here and we have no home.”
This is displacement. Meanwhile Israeli soldiers are carrying out nightly terror campaigns throwing stones at buildings (not to mention turning buildings into military bases).
Families in the city are also reporting soldiers yelling obscenities in the middle of the night & at times shooting randomly.
The same is reported in Nablus where teenagers are being shot in the legs, the chest and head.
This is militant and systemic abuse to pave the way for settlements.
🚨Nearly 60 killed in 37 days of Operation Iron wall, 8 of whom are kids. Dozens injured with live ammunition and many are life altering injuries, meanwhile more than 45,000 displaced in a mere month.
Since I became a UNSR, hardly a day passed without Israel's killing at least one Palestinian child. A decades-long tradition that escalated into genocidal acts after Oct'23 (since then, Israel has killed nearly 40 Palestinian children a day).
The silence of the corporate media and political leaders is everyday more deafening. And racist.
The Western narrative wants you to believe the people throwing stones at tanks invading their land are the bad guys, and the people in the tanks destroying their homes are acting in self defense.
