付き合う前の真剣なアプローチ期間のことなんだけど、「暗黙のルールが多すぎる！」「一体いつまで続けるの!?」と洗礼を受けたみたい🤣

Beyond all the talk about AI, engineering, and the cultural differences between Japan and the Philippines, he got a fun crash course in Filipino "ligaw" culture. Let's just say he's still wrapping his head around the unwritten rules and how long the whole thing is supposed to take.

Another moment we won't forget: even though he's a huge veggie lover, we somehow ended up with a table piled high with meat dishes. Sorry!

参加者からは、

Lunch Meet Up report レストラン編🍽️

ローカルフードを楽しみながら、AIやJPとPHのカルチャーについてたくさん語り合ったよ。学びの多い1日で大満足✨

I had a fulfilling day of learning and great conversations with the Japanese engineer, a former member of our engineering team, which continued even after our meeting.

We went to a Filipino restaurant called Gerry’s Grill and enjoyed a variety of dishes, including calamares, sinigang na baboy, pork sisig, lechon kawali, dinakdakan, and desserts.

While waiting for the food, we continued discussing AI and the cultures of Japan and the Philippines, sharing our different perspectives in a casual setting.

We also played “Guess the Bill,” but neither of us managed to guess the correct amount or even come close, which made it even more fun.

Overall, I was grateful for the experience filled with good food, great conversation and valuable insights.

Had an awesome time with the former member of our engineering team.
He is a Japanese engineer now working on international projects, and it was a pleasure to host him at our Cebu office!

We spent the afternoon discussing AI, exploring cultural differences, and learning from one another.
Despite the different backgrounds, there were zero language barriers, just plenty of laughs
and great insights into the professional landscapes of Japan versus the Philippines. 🙌

🥭 セブで働くと、人ってこんなに変わるんだな〜って思うことがあるよ。

最初はすごく静かだった日本人インターン君も
ランチやチーム時間を重ねるうちにどんどん打ち解けて
最後にはすっかり仲間の一員に🍀

“働く”だけじゃなくて “つながる” 場所なのがセブのいいところ。

I'm a dev working here in Cebu IT Park, and we had
a Japanese teammate with us for a few months.

First few weeks, he barely said a word. Super quiet,
super precise. But Cebu kinda changes people.

After a few lunches together, a team dinner, and a team building up
in the mountains — he just started opening up.

By the end, he was sharing stories with us like he'd been here for years.
He came to grow as a professional. He left as a friend.

セブの日曜はマーケットへ。
若い起業家・農家・クリエイターが集まる
ローカルの魅力とエネルギーを感じられる場所だよ。

Some Sundays, I visit the Cebu Sunday Market, a vibrant hub for entrepreneurs, farmers and artisans. It is an event held every Sunday from 7am to 3pm at Mindanao Avenue, Cebu Business Park near Ayala Mall.

What I appreciate most is that it not only promotes wellness but also showcases young Cebuano entrepreneurs. Seeing young individuals build their ventures makes me glad.

It proves that anyone, regardless of age or status, can pursue entrepreneurship and turn their ideas into reality. It's inspiring to see a community where creativity, passion and opportunity come together, making every visit something to look forward to.

Cebuanos stay professional while keeping things friendly and relaxed. They respect hard work and smart thinking, but they also believe that building real relationships matters.

When people see that you genuinely care about the connection, everything else happens naturally.
