@elonmusk @PeteHegseth We combined the Departments of War and the Navy to create a Department of Defense that incorporated a new air service and successfully navigated competition with the USSR without war. Defense now includes space and cyber and covers a lot more than war.

OSD policy would pick up coordination with partner nation militaries through country teams and attaches, freeing the new functional commands to focus on their problem sets. SECDEF coordinates overall efforts through the Joint Staff. 8/8

TRANSCOM, CYBERCOM, and STRATCOM retain their roles, although NORTHCOM and STRATCOM might be merged to provide coordinated homeland defense and deterrence. 7/8

I was in A-10 training on 9/11 & deployed to Afghanistan a few months later. Many lives changed that day & in the years that followed. We grew, adapted & faced challenges we never anticipated. We lost friends. We saw families forever changed. But thru it all, we stood together.
