@RVealingthenarc Harry might be a bit thick but one thing he’s had drummed into him from infabthood is social conventions and etiquette. I’m pretty sure the expectation is to turn to your neighbour and make polite conversation!
@keepklikkn@Potstirrer111@DrewFlux In my town there are essential workers who can’t find a rental. Meanwhile, every time an entry level house comes on the market, it’s snapped up turned into an Airbnb that sits vacant for most of the year.
@MeghansMole There are billions of family photos of children caught candidly in dirty play clothes. What’s odd about this is that it’s been chosen as a faceless portrait to share on a public platform.
@32a80064@EVFuture12 ‘Seniors have decided’? Look around you. There is a vast array of socioeconomic class, education levels, family wealth , political engagement, intelligence, earning power. ‘Seniors’ are this, just older. They’re not out there holding meetings about how to fuck over younger people
@32a80064@EVFuture12 They *are* asset tested. How is an elderly person who has worked all their life, whose only ‘asset’ is the roof over their head supposed to live once they’ve stopped working? These people have also paid taxes all their lives including the pensions of their elders.
@32a80064@EVFuture12 What benefits do they have that could be removed to make life easier for younger people right now? And would you be happy if these benefits are permanently removed so that they are not available to you in fifty years time?
@nancytsidley Isn’t that the same marble bench top that Megs has used in the past? Also, nobody sandwiches a scone and cuts it in half like this! If you’re going to ape a British dish, at least get it right 🙄
If you want to push back against tech’s encroachment into every corner of our lives, you need to be reading books. They’re keen to create a world in which most people are illiterate & addicted to slop, a world without poetry, imagination or knowledge. Reading is resistance.
@reSolar_@EVFuture12 Can you elaborate on how a young woman in 1970, who was not allowed to work after having kids, or get a mortgage without a man’s signature, ‘raped the Australian dream for the next generations’? She prob spent the next 20 years stuck at home, unpaid, raising her kids.
@32a80064@EVFuture12 So what are you personally doing today to protect the interests of people who reach adulthood in 50 years time? I’m not disagreeing about the disparity between generations, but unbridled hatred and blame makes no sense.
My heart is full of love for this.
The UK’s first rooftop ICU at King’s College Hospital allows critically ill patients to receive life support outdoors, giving them fresh air, sunlight, and nature to support recovery and wellbeing. Patients reported a 20 percent reduction in pain relief meds required.
