A small but real victory I have recently experienced is learning not to concern myself with the opinions of those who have the IQ of a grape. If only I had figured that out in 4th grade… 🙄
I’m 45 years old. I started taking karate lessons last December. Last night, I earned my yellow belt. I’m now giving myself permission to do proud of myself. 🥰
@HopeBarbaraAnne@MercyMacabre I think I might have contributed to the overall vibe with my “I don’t deserve to be happy” fit before. I’m sorry. 😞 I need to get better at handling my own emotions.
I hate calling attention to myself, but @HopeBarbaraAnne wants me to share this, so here’s a picture of me in my karate uniform. https://t.co/Y6KVIlPvr9
@HopeBarbaraAnne If it makes you feel any better, Bobby McFerrin hates Don’t Worry Be Happy too. He got super annoying because he’s had an otherwise diverse career, yet that song is all people know him for.
@____selah “Let’s go around the room and introduce ourselves.” I have always wished I were dead upon hearing those words, no matter what the situation. 😖
I don’t post on here much, but I’m in perimenopause and I’m going through hell right now. Constant bleeding, sleep disruption, cramps, and zero energy. My symptoms are keeping me from doing my favorite things, and I can’t stand it anymore.
You do not need to work to have value.
You do not need to produce for capitalism to have value.
We should not make ourselves the arbiters of another person’s worth, and we certainly shouldn’t base their worth on their job, bank balance or health status.
Everyone has value.
The goodbye in Monsters, Inc. (2001) still destroys. That final moment when he opens her rebuilt door and hears that tiny “Kitty!”… Pixar knew exactly how to end a film with pure emotional release.
To all those who mock people receiving SNAP and other benefits: I hope you never find yourself in a situation where you need those benefits, too. Don’t tell yourself it can’t happen to you. Life is fickle. You never know.
@CymaticJoule@HopeBarbaraAnne I’m still a beginner, tbh. Still picking my way through the Devanagari alphabet. I’m using the Cambridge Introduction to Sanskrit by A.M. Ruppel. It also has flashcards on an app called Brainscape that you can use for free. Hope that helps!
