The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time.
The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more.
But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.
Mother’s Day can evoke a wide range of emotions—everything from deep gratitude for our mothers to worry that you haven’t done enough as a mother to the longing for the privilege of giving birth in this life. Regardless of your situation, I invite every woman to consider the remarkable relationship that the Lord Jesus Christ had with His mother, Mary.
Repeatedly the Savior gave her special care and attention. Consider just three examples from His life and teachings.
The first miracle Jesus Christ performed during His mortal ministry began with a request from His mother during a family gathering. His eager response signaled his love and respect: “What wilt thou have me to do for thee? that will I do…” (See John 2:4, JST.)
The second example came at the most poignant time in the Savior’s mortal life. As he suffered unspeakable pain on the cross, Jesus focused His compassion on the well-being of His mother. Looking down to His Apostle John, standing next to Mary, He said, “Behold thy mother.” His meaning was clear: John was to care for Mary.
Finally, consider the way the Savior compared His concern for His wayward brothers and sisters to that of a mother. “How oft would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings.” When a mother pleads with the Lord on behalf of a struggling child, she does so knowing that the Savior understands perfectly what she is feeling.
I am deeply grateful for the remarkable women in my life who have enriched and mothered me, my family, and countless others in life-changing ways. Every woman has within her the essence of motherhood. Every woman is in a position to help build and change lives. May you each know that our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son know you, see you, and love you. Happy Mother’s Day!
@Yolo304741@GavinNewsom@realDonaldTrump He did! The governor was looking for you to develop the plan of how to rake the 33 million acres of forest California has, including the parts that are not reachable. Maybe if you had volunteered to rake starting with the L A area, these fires would not had happened. Great plan!
Someone who has an identity problem. Someone who wants to be seen as part of the Orange team so he/she is not associated with the “rapists, animals, gang members, etc.” Totally mistaken. Very sad, they will be the first ones being kicked out out by him.
@ewema@Ch_JesusChrist I could answer your questions. However, I am not sure it would change anything for you. Just one note, Pres. Obama is a man of great character. Yet, most church members do not like him or even acknowledge him for that. Regardless of policies, he is a good, moral man.
Which news sources do you consider non-bias? When I hear the hate, the belittling and lies from the candidate himself, what other facts are needed? As a country, we do have problems but we are not a third world country. We are being lied to.
How does ‘character’ apply to a person’s ability to do the job?
Have you looked into the ‘character’ of past Presidents?
And- do you know for a fact and without a doubt, that you know enough about either one to be able to accurately determine their ‘character’? Is your insight based on things you have read on social media, or in biased articles, or ‘news’?
@Ch_JesusChrist The platform will be affected by the character of that person, who most likely will surround himself with advisers with a similar character as his. We have liberty of religion, we continue to have it. We continue to bear arms, no one has taken that right from us and nobody will.
@Ch_JesusChrist I think every woman should be able to choose what to do with her body. We don’t know what her situation is. Abortion may not be something we choose for us but, we all have our free agency and the right to exercise it.
@ananavarro@KamalaHarris It is a very simple matter: Country over party. If she makes policies that we don’t like, we can always fixed that. He will destroy our fragile democracy and that cannot be fixed. Vote for the VP.
@CalltoActivism Random Walz cousins twice removed with the same last name. Meanwhile, let’s count all the people in Donald Trump’s family who want nothing to do with him. This includes his wife, Melania!
