We’ve had over 5 mass shootings in the past 2 weeks in Florida. We NEED to handle gun violence with more urgency. We lose 100 people a day and our “leaders” care more about keeping trans kids from playing sports. @GovRonDeSantis do you care about children being murdered?
Final Boundary Analysis Report: “The models presented in this report suggest it is possible to improve diversity between nearby schools, without significant impacts to proximity” (Page 14).
Retweet this to spread the word.
Stay tuned, @MCPS.

There are 160,564 students in MCPS. The Board of Education workgroup tasked with getting a comprehensive view of the SRO (police in schools) program talked to 3 students... this is laughable.
There are countless inequities that need to be addressed before a potential full return to in-person learning next semester.
No K-12 student should have to worry about receiving a warm meal. MoCo/MCPS should not be considering doing this.
If we fully build the network of trails across MD, VA & DC we could create more than 16k jobs and generate more than $1 billion a year in revenue from construction and local spending. Our parks and environment would benefit too.
It's time to complete the Capital Trails Network.
No student should have to walk to school in unsafe conditions like this but it happens everyday in our county due to under investment in our Safe Routes to Schools program. These students are walking on Norwood Rd to get to Blake HS. We must do better. #VisionZero#Infrastructure
Joseph Bostic Jr., a math content specialist and eighth-grade team leader at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown, was named the MCPS Teacher of the Year https://t.co/Dq7f9NCD8H
NEW—This morning, Councilmembers Will Jawando and Craig Rice announced a task force to support MCPS students' mental health. This includes evaluating the SRO program.
Rice formerly supported police presence in schools. He said student testimony has since changed his view. (1/2)
He said his opinion has changed/evolved after listening to “passionate testimony” from students over past year. And, he said, many of the reasons he supported SROs (mentorship, community building) can and should be accomplished with other adults.
