A serial killer allegedly picked the wrong victim: the first African American world kickboxing champion, Fredia "Cheetah" Gibbs.

Gibbs says she unknowingly fought for her life after getting into a van with the man later identified as the "Grim Sleeper" serial killer.

She recalls:

> Realizing she was in danger after he drove the wrong way and she discovered she couldn't open the doors or windows.

> He allegedly tried to sexually assault her after trapping her inside the van.

> She relied on her kickboxing training and mental strength to fight back, overpower him, and escape.

Gibbs says the ordeal left her with PTSD, and for years she was constantly looking over her shoulder.
