All of MoDE's contracted staff and volunteers are parents of children with disabilities. Some of us even have disabilties ourselves. We know what it's like to be stuck in the hole. We never want anyone else to feel trapped the way we once were. That's why we do what we do.
We're looking for artwork submissions for our inclusive art show in Macon, MO! This is open to all abilities, all ages, all skill levels, and all artforms. You can send us your piece in the mail or you can drop it off on June 22. If you need an alternative option, contact Julia.
Louisiana lawmakers just became the 13th state to pass a law shifting the burden of proof in special education due process hearings from parents to school districts.
We'll go first:
๐จ "We can't evaluate. Her grades are too good." ๐จ
FACT: Many students who earn As and Bs still have disabilities like ADHD, dyslexia, or autism.
We need to talk about relying on old data. IEP goals and services are built on a student's present levels of performance โ evaluation data that carries a 3-year lifespan before it's considered outdated.

You can't have meaningful participation when there's a language or communication barrier and the translator/interpreter doesn't understand what's being discussed.

Special education law uses a number of abbreviations and acronyms--so much so that it sometimes feels like alphabet soup.
"I need a BCBA to complete an FBA for the creation of a BIP to address the ED of the student with an IEP, per our obligation from the IDEA..." ๐
๐ What if we told you buying jam and syrup could change a kid's life? ๐
We are thrilled to partner with Jared's Jams for a fundraiser that's as delicious as it is meaningful.

Several months ago, MoDE Foundation received a capacity-building grant through Maryโs Pence, an organization that invests in women and community-driven social change.
Through this grant, we partnered with Waypoint to strengthen our nonprofit messaging and our brand.
School is in the final stretch, routine is out the window, and we're hearing multiple reports about students experiencing seclusion and restraint. Let's review the law: https://t.co/Sy2a5VZXNm
We've tallied up the donations from Give STL Day, including some that were sent in through a different platform. It is an honor to have you all with us on this journey with us!
This Motherโs Day weekend, we honor the moms who show up โ in meetings, at therapies, during sleepless nights, during hospital stays, through hard conversations, and in the moments no one else sees. Through it all, they keep going -- because giving up was never an option.
Today is Give STL Day!
One of our volunteers is looking for 58 people to donate $58 in celebration of her 58th birthday. If we're successful, she'll throw in an extra $580! We have until 11:59pm tonight.

On 4/28/26, Parental Consent language from HB 2304 was amended onto a bill that was perfected on the House Floor today (HB 2426, Keathley). We now have to follow our bill AND HB 2426 because our language is on both. Now to watch how it does in the Senate!
