I am just speechless.

Today, my youngest son (5) was out with mom and he said out of nowhere, “I want to get a daddy Bible.”

Why? He said he wanted to have one when dad had his next Bible study.

This pierced the deepest parts of my soul for several reasons:

1. He verbalized in his own 5 year old way that he directly associates his dad with the Bible. Wow. What an honor.

2. My young son sought out the BIBLE with zero prompting or urging from his parents. It was his decision entirely.

So before bedtime, I got to sit with my 5 year old and hear him “read” the Bible. (In reality it was just stuff like “we pray to God and we love God” but still)

To any fathers of young children or future fathers, man… what you DO matters so much more than what you say.

They are watching you. Always. Whether they even realize it, they are absorbing your behaviors and habits in their subconscious.

There have been times where my sons mirrored some of my worst behavior and it was a wake up call to do better. Tonight, it was the opposite and I’m honestly walking on air.

You have a DUTY to become the man you want them to be. Because, they will in many ways likely become the man that you are.
