Driving the iconic Williams FW14B, Nigel Mansell dominated the 1992 Formula 1 season, outdriving his competitors to become World Champion.
The car was perfectly suited to Mansell’s aggressive driving style and its success has become inseparably linked to the race number ‘Red 5’ and his distinctive helmet colours.
The FW14B was a technological masterpiece, featuring an active suspension system, which exploited Adrian Newey’s unrivaled flair for aerodynamic design. It also had pioneering electronic control systems, blown diffuser and traction control. With the exception of the peerless V10 Renault engine all of the cutting edge engineering was developed in-house by Williams.
Mansell opened the 1992 season securing pole position, fastest lap and race victory at the first round in South Africa. He went on to win the next four races. A second place finish in Hungary at the eleventh round was enough to clinch the world title, as Mansell’s lead in the Championship became insurmountable. This was the culmination of a spectacular season and a crowning achievement for both Mansell and the Williams team.

This hand-made resin model is made by Tecnomodel and limited to just 130 pieces worldwide.
The 1953 Le Mans-winning Jaguar C-Type, bearing the number 18, remains one of the most significant cars in British motorsport history. Entered by Jaguar Works, the car was driven to victory by the formidable pairing of Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton. This triumph was not only Jaguar’s first overall win at the legendary endurance race but also a watershed moment in motorsport engineering. The 1953 C-Type featured a groundbreaking innovation—Dunlop disc brakes—giving it a decisive advantage over its rivals. This technological leap allowed for superior braking performance, particularly in the high-speed sections of the Circuit de la Sarthe, and laid the groundwork for the widespread adoption of disc brakes in both racing and road cars.
The number 18 Jaguar C-Type's victory at Le Mans was achieved at a record-breaking pace, covering 2,555.04 miles at an average speed of 105.85 mph—an unprecedented feat at the time. The car’s success was a testament to Jaguar’s engineering prowess, blending aerodynamics, lightweight construction, and advanced braking technology. The C-Type itself was an evolution of the XK120, designed by William Heynes and Malcolm Sayer, with its curvaceous bodywork optimised for speed and efficiency. This victory cemented Jaguar’s reputation as a dominant force in endurance racing, setting the stage for further triumphs at Le Mans with the D-Type later in the decade. Today, the number 18 C-Type is revered as a masterpiece of British automotive design and innovation, embodying the pioneering spirit of post-war motorsport.
