Check out this plantbox configurator my amazing team at @modelup3d recently built for a client.
The geometry looks quite simple, but there were some real technical challenges in how it is put together:

We're very happy with the outcome! Thanks for the trust Wernamo Design, and congrats on the launch!

Improved lighting, materials, and shadows have now been rolled out across our platform ๐ฅ
All visual upgrades come without compromising performance. Speed and UX remain our top priority โ๏ธ

Using the Modelup custom control system, the UI doesnโt have to follow a predefined layout. You can build a completely custom interface using standard web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
1/3
In this example, the configurator is embedded on the site while the interface is built as a step-by-step wizard. The custom UI communicates with the Modelup engine, Grasshopper and rhino.compute.

Yes, unlimited compute. What does that mean?
๐ต You can upload your Grasshopper script to the Modelup platform
๐ต The script becomes a web-based 3D configurator with inputes
๐ต You can change inputs and compute as much as you like - it wonโt affect the billing

We just donโt like the idea of limiting our users. The more success and value our customers get from their apps, the happier we get.
How is this possible? We use a mix of advanced caching, efficient scaling, and not to forget - an insanely performant compute backend.

3. Variable dimensions, with the option to offset stairs inwards - subtracting big chunks of the deck surface
4. Surrounding structures that adapt accordingly
This deck configurator is an example of what can be built on top of the @modelup3d platform.
2/2
Check out the stairs generated in this deck configurator ๐
1. It generates stairs for a deck that look good while also being structurally sound
2. Stairs can be placed on different sides of the deck, including corners or clipped/truncated corners

Hurray! ๐ Our long-standing customer Halle recently launched a brand new 3D configurator on their website built with our compute platform.
It lets customers design flat roof pergolas with frameless glass doors and generate 1:100 drawings.

Kicking off 2026 strong with a new feature announcement: reinstate parameters by copying and pasting a configurator URL in GH! ๐
We have plenty more features in the works. 2026 is going to be wild. Stay tuned ๐ฅ

Embedding structural engineering logic in a 3D configurator.
Itโs just a small example of how configurators can evolve from โcute visualsโ to seriously powerful tools.

New feature alert ๐ข You can now create single-line and multi-line ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฝ๐๐๐ directly from Text Panels or Floating Text Params in Grasshopper.
A simple way to let users add text that flows into your 3D model, PDFs, or downstream logic.

Halloween season has reached the Grasshopper canvas ๐
Spoiler: This trick was made with the incredible NaughtyComponents plugin developed by Long Nguyen. The ghost was made with the "Load from Rhino" functionality on the Sketch object.
