anyone who tries to shame you for enjoying the fall season should be pitied, for their hearts have grown too weary and cynical to know the joys of crisp autumn air and shelves full of Hallowe’en candy and crönchy leaves under one’s feet.
Today the vet told me that since Covid, they’ve had to treat a number of cats with depression caused by irritation that their people are at home all day. Obviously it’s not really funny but… that’s the most Cat thing I’ve ever heard. Apparently dogs do not have the same problem.
The pandemic will pass. You’ll enjoy sit-down meals and bookstore visits and cold, rainy walks and late nights of warm chatter and laughter. There will be moments of astonishing beauty. You will smile again.
