I used to beg for love.
Not loudly. Not dramatically.
Just in small ways.
I begged through over-explaining. Through forgiving too fast. Through staying even when I was unhappy.
I begged by pretending I didn’t notice disrespect.
And one day… I got tired.
Not angry. Not heartbroken. Just tired.
He had ignored my calls the whole day.
Then at night he texted, “Hey.”
Just “hey.” No apology. No explanation.
The old me would have replied fast.
The old me would have said, “Babe are you okay? I missed you.”
But that night…
I stared at the message.
And for the first time I heard my own heart whisper:
“Do you want to live like this forever?”
That question broke me.
Because I realized something painful…
I wasn’t in love.
I was addicted to the hope that one day he would change.
And hope is dangerous when it keeps you in the same place.
So I didn’t reply.
I put my phone down.
And I slept.
The next morning he texted again, “Why are you acting like this?”
I smiled.
Because I wasn’t acting.
I was healing.
