The Ford government spent more than $12M advertising its Ring of Fire plans last year, new FOI records show.

That brings the province’s known 2025-26 advertising spending to more than $77M across four ministries.

The taxpayer-funded ads ran in Cineplex theatres, among other platforms.

This is a pretty damning example of why Ontario’s government needs to be more accountable over OSAP. Seven private career colleges received about $385 million in provincial OSAP grants in one year - roughly the same amount as students at all of Ontario’s publicly funded colleges combined.

Meanwhile, students at our public colleges and universities are seeing their grants slashed and taking on even more debt. Students shouldn’t be paying the price for the Ford government’s failure to properly oversee the system.

Maybe the best solution for the Billy Bishop Airport is to close it entirely and reclaim the space for Torontonians to use as parkland. We could call it Toronto Place Park.
