World Hepatitis Day presents another opportunity to remind our people that hepatitis remains a serious health concern β one that often goes unnoticed until it becomes life-threatening. In many cases, individuals live with the disease without knowing, putting themselves and others at risk of complications such as liver damage, cancer or even death.
Today, as we join the rest of the world to commemorate World Hepatitis Day, we renew our commitment to fighting this deadly disease in our communities. The good news is that hepatitis is preventable, manageable, and even curable.
Let us come together to #BreakItDown! We must remove the barriers that stop people from getting tested and treated. In Edo State, we continue to strengthen access to health services, create more awareness, and ensure that treatment options reach those who need them most.
Together, we can end the silent suffering and protect the health of our people.

Today, we are raising awareness about the dangers of tobacco smoking, a significant risk factor for major non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes, and more.
Tobacco is often marketed as a luxury product and a symbol of wealth and affluence. However, the reality is starkly different:
- Tobacco kills more than 8 million people each year, including an estimated 1.3 million non-smokers who are exposed to second-hand smoke [1](https://t.co/w0lCteHdIn).
- Around 22.3% of the worldβs population used tobacco in 2020, with 36.7% of men and 7.8% of women being users [1](https://t.co/w0lCteHdIn).
Join us in spreading the truth and debunking these myths. Share this message widely.
Let's save lives together.
