To our heroes who gave us freedom, and to all who serve our people today, thank you. I am honoured to mark Mashujaa Day here at Geneva Grounds in Mandera Town. Let us protect our peace, stand united and leave our children a better future. #MashujaaDay2026
I extend my warmest wishes to all KCSE, KJSEA and KPSEA candidates across Mandera County as you begin your 2026 examinations. We are proud of your hard work and dedication. Approach each paper with confidence, focus and determination, knowing that the people of Mandera are cheering you on. May Allah grant you wisdom, guide you through every paper and bless you with excellent results.
Kila la Heri!
Today, I met traders affected by the fire at Bus Park Market in Mandera Town, alongside my Deputy, Dr. Ali Mohamud, to express our solidarity and reaffirm our commitment to supporting their recovery.
I understand the hardship this incident has caused, and we stand with every trader as they work to rebuild their livelihoods.
The County Government has donated KSh 3.5 million to support those affected, and we are committed to working with the National Government to reconstruct the market and restore business activities.
I also presided over the commissioning of new municipal waste management equipment to strengthen our capacity to keep Mandera Town clean, improve efficiency and enhance service delivery.
Our commitment remains to the people of Mandera, protecting livelihoods, strengthening public services and building a better future for our county.
Nothing can convince the ordinary people of Mandera to vote out Governor MAK. In the past, LPOs, LSOs and major contracts only went to the well-connected. Today, under @MohamedAKhalif , everyone is equal. Free secondary education for all (Elimu Kwa Wote) has changed the game and with it, contracts and opportunities are finally reaching ordinary homes.
Watch these Mandera mothers speak the truth.
They are supporting Governor MAKβs re-election because of free education and real delivery to the people. No amount of clanism can stop an administration that works for everyone.
INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAYHI RAJI'UN
It is with profound sorrow that I have learnt of the passing of Chief Abdimalik Siid Abbas of Township.
Chief Abdimalik served our community with utmost dedication, integrity, and humility. His invaluable contributions to fostering peace, unity, and community cohesion will remain an enduring legacy and a lasting source of inspiration.
I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Mandera during this difficult time. May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, shower him with His infinite mercy, and grant him Jannatul Firdaws.

IGAD Advances Gateway Project to Unlock Borderland Prosperity
Today at the IGAD offices in Addis Ababa, the Executive Secretary, H.E. @DrWorkneh, received Mandera County Governor, H.E. @MohamedAkhalif, and the Ambassador of Kenya to Ethiopia, H.E. Galma Boru.
Their discussions focused on the Ethiopia Kenya consultations on the Horn of Africa Gateway Project, convened by IGAD, and its role in connecting communities, expanding trade, and creating opportunity in cross border areas.
The meeting followed @DrWorknehβs renewed call, at the 28th Horn of Africa Initiative meeting in Washington, D.C., for borderlands to be placed at the centre of sustainable development, ensuring that corridors not only move goods, but also create opportunities for the communities that live along them.

Today, accompanied by my Deputy Dr Ali and senior officials from Mandera County, I joined officials from the Intergovernmental Authorityon Development(IGAD), Representatives from the Republic of Kenya and Representatives from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia for a high-level bilateral meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

I emphasised that River Daua is a critical trans-boundary asset for food security in our region through joint investments in irrigation and climate resilience. I called for regional cooperation to unlock the immense socio-economic potential of both countries through the River Daua Basin Development initiative.
