The Republic of #Somaliland has formally offered the United States a military base near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait as part of a wider diplomatic proposal aimed at securing international recognition. The offer includes access to critical mineral resources such as lithium, gold, tin, and oil, with drilling expected to begin by 2026, according to sources familiar with the plan.

The strategic location of the proposed base—at the mouth of the Red Sea—positions Somaliland as a potential key ally in countering China’s growing influence in the region, particularly given Beijing’s naval presence in Djibouti. A recent report by @RT_com (Russia Today) suggested the deal is being framed in Washington as a direct alternative to expanding Chinese dominance in the Horn of Africa.
