Hon'ble MLA Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri became emotional while presenting the reservation bill, highlighting the gravity of the issue. Yet the bill was defeated, with only 4 members supporting it, all from the JKPDP.
Not a single member from the JKNC stood with it.
This decision is rooted in respect & sacrifices- for principles ,for a cause ,for a greater good.
Politicians come & go, wear new faces day in & day out , but a leader, a true statesman walks the right path even if he has to walk alone.
Fully with you on this unflinching, principled stand that befits your stature.
Respect 🙌
@RuhullahMehdi
We stand for comprehensive Rationalisation .
Playing petty politics tantamounts to becoming a roadblock in the path of this process & hence the anger of our youth over such politics is justified.
The GC youth may not come on roads or rallies as the reserved do but they silently know fully how to punish such short-sighted politics. at the ballot. They are highly intelligent & aware in that aspect & cannot be subject to any double games.
By trying to incite a tiny vote bank you invite the wrath of 70% overhwhelming majority.
Kindly don't create hurdles ,instead join us vociferously in our demand for comprehensive, hoslistic Rationalisation cutting across sections and call for restoring our misallocated share of past 20 years to its original position rather than creating hurdles in its way.

After meeting students delegation/ Open Merit Association today, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, @ruhullahmehdi assured them and stated the following:
• Before any call is taken on the Budgam by-election, the Reservation Sub-Committee Report must be made public and shared with stakeholders by tomorrow.
• All channels of communication shall remain open with our (Students) representative.
• Any future decision will be guided by the contents of the report.
— Office of Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi
We extend our full support to the Open Merit doctors & MBBS students protesting at SKIMS Medical College, Bemina. Their demand for fair recruitment, service security & equitable representation is legitimate & deserves urgent government attention. @saquib_jan
Almost a year since we joined Open Merit students in their fight for reservation by staging a protest outside the CMs residence.
During the course of this inordinate painful delay even the sub committee report to this day remains shrouded in secrecy. To add insult to injury every successive government recruitment ad has been completely lopsided putting OM students at a staggering disadvantage.
Politicians have the luxury to even watch paint dry because their careers span decades. But every single day that the NC government has dragged its feet to fulfil its promises to OM students has been a criminal delay leaving their future in abject darkness
@sakinaitoo Abhay kameeni samaaj sewa hi krni thi to reservation issue ko hi solve krti..whole open merit youth is crying .... u are all traitors.. shame on you..
It was a slip of tongue, not a slip of truth. Mock all you want. I am not backing down. Division-wise reservation is the fight for justice and I will scream it louder every time you try to shut me up. It only exposes your desperation. You want to distract from the truth that Jammu has been grabbing a lion’s share while Kashmiris are left to suffer.
You laughed at a number, wait till you cry at the truth.
P.s Hamari Naukriya, Hamara Haq.

Explaining how divisional-wise reservation can bring fairness to J&K’s reservation policy, protect open merit seats, and ensure region-specific justice without affecting any category adversely.
Presented by Sahil Parray ( @iamsahilparray ), Representative OMSA, J&K
MBBS interns in J&K have been on a stagnant stipend of ₹12,300 since 2019. A hike to ₹26,350 was recommended in 2023, but the file still gathers dust in Finance Dept. Doctors seek dignity, not delays.

One Day Left. Still No Report. This Betrayal of Open Merit Will Not Be Forgotten!
In a shocking move, the National Conference-led J&K Govt has released the recruitment notification for Naib Tehsildar just one day before the Sub-Committee's report deadline. Out of 75 posts, 45 are exclusively reserved, and the remaining 30 are open to all categories. This means only 10 to 15 posts will realistically be available for Unreserved General Category aspirants, who make up over 70 percent of the population.
15 posts for 70 percent of the population, and 60 posts for 30 percent. What kind of justice is this?
We strongly condemn this betrayal in the strongest possible terms. We call upon the Chief Minister of J&K, Omar Abdullah, to stand by his commitment and ensure immediate submission and implementation of the Reservation Sub-Committee report.
Furthermore, we urge Sub-Committee Chairperson Sakina Itoo and her OSD to stop ignoring our repeated calls. We have been reaching out for days. The silence is unacceptable.
TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY of the six-month deadline
This betrayal will go down in history.

UPDATE | RESERVATION SUB-COMMITTEE
Today, a delegation from OMSA J&K, led by Mr. Sahil Parray (@iamsahilparray), met Honourable MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi Sahib to discuss the prolonged delay in the submission of the reservation report.
Honourable MP Ruhullah Sahib patiently listened to the concerns and assured:
"I have given you my commitment, and I firmly stand by it. I hope the committee will submit the report without further delay. If they fail to do so, rest assured I am with you."
We express our heartfelt gratitude to Honourable Ruhullah Mehdi Sahib for his continued support and moral clarity.
OMSA J&K once again urges the Sub-Committee to submit the reservation report without any further delay. Only 5 days are left before the six-month deadline ends. The youth cannot wait any longer.
Thousands of deserving and qualified youth are waiting in hope.

Clarification on Deadline of Sub-Committee Report
On November 22, 2024, the J&K government, in a cabinet meeting, decided to establish a sub-committee to review the reservation policy in the region. However, the official government order was not issued immediately.
Subsequently, on December 10, 2024, Government Order No. 2061-JK(GAD) of 2024 was issued, officially constituting the sub-committee. This order, however, did not specify any timeframe for the submission of the report.
Following the Gupkar protest and widespread concerns raised by students, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K assured that the sub-committee would submit its report within six months. However, after some months when a Right to Information (RTI) application was filed, it was revealed that the sub-committee was not bound by any such timeframe and no six-month deadline was officially recorded in the RTI response.
After further pressure from the student community, the Hon’ble Chief Minister clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that although the initial order lacked a timeline, the sub-committee is working to complete its task within six months. He stated:
"This timeline, however, was not in the initial order setting up the sub-committee. That oversight will be corrected but rest assured the committee is working to complete its task in the set timeframe."
Later, when a Hon’ble MLA raised this issue in the Assembly, the government’s official response clearly stated:
"The Cabinet Sub-Committee stands constituted vide Government Order No. 2061-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated 10.12.2024 to examine the grievances projected by a section of aspirants for various posts regarding Reservation Rules and shall submit its report within a period of 6 months from the date of issuance of the order." (Screenshot attached)
Therefore, the official deadline for the sub-committee report is 10 June, 2025.
Today, OMSA J&K contacted the Chairperson of the Sub-Committee, who reaffirmed that the deadline is indeed June 10, 2025. We formally requested that the report be submitted immediately, without any further delay.
We strongly urge the government to fulfill its responsibility by ensuring the immediate submission and timely implementation of the sub-committee report. Over five months have already passed, and only 18 days remain. This is not just a procedural delay, this is a matter that directly impacts the future, rights, and dignity of lacs of aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir.
The six-month deadline set for the sub-committee is soon going to an end.
We earnestly urge the timely release of the sub-committee report and the rationalisation of the reservation policy in accordance with the principles of equity and merit.
@BBCWorld asks question regarding excess reservation in J&K.
It’s high time for Govt to give a just share to General population of J&k where merit and competence prevails…!
