I join the sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate and the entire academic community in mourning the passing of the renowned scholar, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin and Chairman of the Governing Council of Kwara State University, who passed away in the early hours of today.

Professor Ambali was an erudite academic, an administrator, and a respected statesman whose contributions to education and national development left an enduring legacy.

As we mourn this great loss, we take solace in the remarkable impact he made during his lifetime. I pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his return, grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and gives his family, friends, associates, and the entire people of Kwara State the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Yesterday, I had the honour of receiving the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, GCON, and other distinguished members of the NILDS Governing Council at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).

The meeting focused on reviewing the Institute’s progress and strengthening ongoing efforts towards improving legislative capacity and democratic governance.

I am encouraged by the commendation of the Council on the progress recorded by the Institute and the dedication of its management and staff.
