I understand at the age of 75, Prime Minister Modi feels fatherly love towards most 49 year olds - including Italian Prime Minister Meloni.
So he carried toffees for her.
But this isn’t appropriate gift from a head of state.
It’s Cringe Pro Max!
There is absolutely no Gas availability in households.
Electricity Load shedding like its 2012.
Petrol prices making daily transit extremely expensive but the Peace talks happened in Islamabad so its absolutely fine.
This is why I love statistics. If we look at 1995, India’s rank of 35th looks stellar compared to today. However, the game was rigged by the math.
In 1995, TI only ranked 41 countries. India was 35th out of 41, ~85th percentile from the top.
By not adjusting for the total number of participants (which grew to 180+), the raw rank creates a false nostalgia. Being 35/41 is actually worse than being 93/180.
TI’s historical data often fails to highlight this denominator bias, making developing nations look like they are in a freefall when they are actually stagnant/improving. I can also speak about the methodologies used by them but that requires a longer article (maybe for the weekend).
