Whoever lets Canada name their lakes needs to be stopped.
Canada has more than two million lakes, and apparently, there are only so many names a cartographer can invent. As aerial surveys revealed thousands of previously unmapped bodies of water, mapmakers often relied on names already used by local hunters, trappers, and loggers.
The result was a collection of wonderfully blunt official names, including This Lake, Another Lake, Stupid Lake, and Nova Scotia’s remarkably real Big Ass Lake.
