To my mind as a Christian, venerating a shota is akin to venerating a saint.

In general, there is a taboo surrounding sexuality and sex within Christian churches; however, the veneration and contemplation of saints is a clear manifestation of Eros love.

Contemplating the Divine through the persons of saints and martyrs is frequently associated with ecstasy and attraction—manifested in the desire to touch their bodies, believing holiness radiates from them—as well as acts of prostration before religious images and icons, a practice intimately linked to archetypal dynamics of submission and surrender.

There is a profound connection between eroticism and religious devotion, as both stem from the will and desire for union with the other—whom we ultimately divinize to a greater or lesser degree. It is no coincidence that most people who love someone are willing to sacrifice their own lives to protect their beloved. Such an act of sacrifice is no different from Christ’s surrender on the cross out of love for humanity—the ultimate fulfillment of Eros, Philia, Agape, and Storge love.

I love shotas because I see in them the pinnacle of holiness and Christian virtues; this, in turn, awakens a sense of attraction within me. Note that my attraction to shotas arises precisely from a pre-existing religious devotion.
