Amnesty International has called for the immediate release of Imran Khan's family members and PTI workers.

In a statement Amnesty International’s Deputy Regional Director for South Asia warned that Pakistan is violating its international human rights treaty obligations through these actions.

“A protest cannot be deemed violent before it has even started. Pakistan’s authorities must uphold their obligations under international human rights law to facilitate peaceful assembly and refrain from unlawful measures to thwart these protests.”

PTI’s @sayedzbukhari said in an interview with @SkyYaldaHakim that the party is concerned about threats of violence from the military regime, whose Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued threats at a press conference on Monday and has a documented history of deadly crackdowns on peaceful protests.

Despite these concerns, he said, Imran Khan’s party will proceed with full enthusiasm for their democratic rights.
