Illegal immigration needs to stop, but I’m super in favor of greatly expanding and simplifying legal immigration.
Anyone who proves themself to be hard-working, talented and honest should be allowed to become an American. Period.
If you were at a restaurant and they had a chart like this for when you could get a table if you were of a certain ethnicity —-how many people would lose their minds!! How can this Administration stay so indifferent to doing anything/something to help these people!!
1) layoffs
2) aged out kids
3) spousal EADs take too long
4) people dying in backlog
5) consular delays
Logical solution — cure the 1 disease (country caps) that causes these 5 symptoms with 1 bill
Illogical solution — pretend these are 5 different diseases that need 5 cures
Indians made up 51% of the workers sponsored for green cards from 2012-22, but received just 22% of the green cards issued, and so now make up 91% of the backlog. This is the inequality the EAGLE Act was meant to correct. It should be proportional. https://t.co/syionkuRsD
It took me 17 years to become a citizen – and that was when waiting times were shorter.
The EAGLE Act would move to a first come first serve system that would no longer discriminate by birth country, without harming anyone currently in the backlog.
I'm one of the few members of Congress who has been on an H-1B visa back when processing times to transition to a green card weren’t nearly as bad—and it still took 17 years to become a citizen.
We must pass the Eagle Act for all those who have waited too long for a green card.
I encourage Republicans in the House and Senate to Vote for #HR3648#EagleAct. This bill ends H1B abuse protecting Americans, it will drive wages up for all Americans, (1/2)
We are proud to support the EAGLE Act and are continuing advocate for common sense immigration reform on behalf of our employees and their families. We urge Congress to pass the #EAGLEAct, lifting unfair per-country visa caps for employment-based green cards.
Intel strongly supports the passage of the #EAGLEAct to phase out “per-country limits” that are partially responsible for harmful, decades-long backlogs for high-skilled nationals of certain countries—including many valued Intel employees. https://t.co/ug5cYJrDPa
Athulya Rajakumar was brought here 20 years ago at the age of 4 and is a recent graduate of @UTAustin.
She testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this year.
Without a change, she will be forced to self deport next month.
The EAGLE Act is good for all workers & will benefit our economy by lifting the arbitrary per-country green card caps to bring down our decades-long backlog for immigrants.
I'm moved by the stories I’ve heard from my constituents about how this bill would help. Let's pass it.
Incredibly compelling and important stories from @jakchen and employees of @Microsoft on the deep, unnecessary, and counterproductive pain our current immigration policies cause. https://t.co/wp9jjI3IwW
