Can I Say Something Without Anyone Taking It Personal?

I know this won’t sit well with some of you, but let me say it anyway.

I’ve seen quite a number of newly married women post things like, “Now that I’m in my husband’s house, I can fry as many eggs as I want,” or “Now I can eat whatever I like,” or similar posts comparing life in their husband’s home to life in their father’s home.

Maybe it’s just me, but those posts have never sat right with me.

Now, if someone grew up in genuine hardship and is simply appreciating that life has improved, I can understand where that emotion is coming from.
