INFINITY RANT/THOUGHTS ON THE META INCOMING:

Although I didn’t perform well this weekend (made a couple poor choices to really test both formats), I gathered a ton of information over the last few weeks for our upcoming DLC in Indy. Here are my thoughts after playing ECC:

- 🟡⚪️ without wheel is extremely real. I lost to the winner @LoreGainz in Swiss (congrats btw buddy) and Akood/Beast on 3 every single game, plus the Aurora cheating out both Ariels, plus the consistency of FOUR Bare Necessities, which destroyed me, is why he won the event. - 🟢🟡🐶 had the highest conversion into T16, which is no surprises there. However, with the adjustments being made to steel decks atm, it will have to adjust to some of its matchups to still be the clear winner in top cut. DO NOT THINK just because it did not win, it is not still doing broken shit. 37 total/7 in T16. The top tables were hella doggos all weekend, but the counterplay is starting to work at least.

- 🟢⚪️ by Donald was impressive, our team got to test his list a bit before the event and it really did feel strong. Genuinely, if both 🔵🟣 and 🔴🟣 weren’t so prevalent in the meta, the call to play this deck would be really solid (sorry for doubting you @BradenMTG). Donald(Antidae) is also just a menace in the Lorcana scene, this would’ve been his 2nd CCQ win if he won the finals there, so also an impressive showing just by him in particular. Horseman SHIFT 🎃

- 🔵🟣 choosing this deck seemed genuinely throw. It’s best matchup is discard decks and SOMETIMES beats 🟡⚪️. Every other matchup at the top tables is a 40/60. Other than that, idk why anyone would ever take this into infinity other than the reason “I have Demonas, so I wanna play them” or to grief Diablo enjoyers like myself 🙄

- 🔴🟣 I feel a little similar to 🔵🟣 about this deck at the moment, however it still has Be Prep or Sisu and has great game into the new 🔴🔵 variants, so I have more respects for its matchups. But 3rd most played deck in the event and zero conversion rate seems so throw. At the end of the day, the deck is just too fair and I imagine losing die rolls on this deck has to be just so mid.

- 🔵🔴 was the most impressive showing imo this weekend, playing well into all the 🟣 throwers and the item variants really crushing 🟡⚪️ as they tend to do. The action variant with Olafs are also better into aggro decks than some would expect. This combo is probably one of the better choices moving forward.

All in all, big shoutout to Cassie, LorcanaFrann and @iee_phil /all the judges for running a spectacular event in SoCal. I appreciate all the hard work and getting us some great games in before the next DLC.
