I had a great time attending the English Greyhound Derby yesterday afternoon. The six-week competition boasts a rich history dating back to 1927, and attracts top competitors from across the UK and Ireland.
This year the competition started with a staggering 192 greyhounds. The final saw the top 6 dogs battle it out for the £175,000 first place prize!

The race itself was incredible to watch, but what was even more interesting to learn about is the care these wonderful animals receive at every stage of their lives.
The Greyhound Board of Great Britain does incredible work, and invests huge sums of money to ensure welfare and safety are continuously improving and to the highest standard. In fact, 93% of greyhounds have found their forever home after they retire from the sport.

The sport also supports over 7,000 jobs across the UK.
