Rambles about #Travel, #History, #Books, #Art, #News, #OUstudent (Beware of drunken tweetage!) Pissed off about everything; doing nothing about it. Views my own
And breathe.. I have felt so tense today (all week tbh). Relieved that demonstrations have been largely peaceful this evening in the UK, and particularly proud of #Birmingham - where the city sent a clear and positive message of defiance to those intent on sowing division ✌🏻
@jessphillips Appeared to be a failure of policing the trouble which unfolded last night? It is scary and worrying to see this taking place in our city for sure.
***BREAKING***
Everyone ready for some VERY good news?
The Crown Inn — widely regarded as the birthplace of heavy metal music — has been listed at Grade II by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, on the advice of Historic England.
It is best known for being the venue where Black Sabbath performed their first ever gig at Henry’s Blueshouse, which was situated upstairs inside the pub.
The Crown also hosted a litany of other rock royalty including The Who, Status Quo, UB40, Duran Duran, Thin Lizzy, Marc Bolan, Supertramp, Judas Priest and Led Zeppelin.
Sitting at the junction of Station Street and Hill Street, a stone’s throw away from Birmingham New Street Station, the building is one of the first things seen by passengers leaving the station via the Spanish steps and has been a site of concern locally for almost a decade, laying vacant since 2014.
Next stop, The Electric 🤞
Fantastic news, and a richly deserved result for the community of Himley who have campaigned for this - and hopefully a warning to others thinking of running roughshod over planning laws… >> Crooked House: Owners of wonky pub ordered to rebuild https://t.co/vWBjZdPg70
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andy Rourke after a lengthy illness with pancreatic cancer.
Andy will be remembered as a kind and beautiful soul by those who knew him and as a supremely gifted musician by music fans.
We request privacy at this sad time
@Davies_Group@TheFCA We’ve already gone down this road, Kelly, see previous tweets and associated messages - months ago. I would urge anybody taking out insurance and reading this to check who underwrites it, and if it’s this outfit to avoid at all costs.
