Remember The Voice Crusher (Playable Packaging for my album Four Track)?
Here's my brilliant hacker and friend Drix @CedHon (Cedric Honnet) taking a closer look at it's processing capabilities...
It made a bad instrument worse and I didn’t pursue Charlie’s techniques much longer than I did Stanley Jordan’s (about 3 months each), but it did crack open the door a little wider to my future as an instrument hacker and designer. Thanks again for supporting what I do dad ❤️
I’m a little sad to let this one go, but it’ll make space for new and wonderful instruments. This was my first electric guitar that my dad bought me when I was about 15. It’s a terrible Strat copy that I stopped playing as soon as I got to college and learned how much having a
lousy instrument was holding me back. Later, in my relatively short “Charlie Hunter phase”, I cut all the frets to 2/3rds and put bass guitar strings in there for the bottom two. This effectively gave me two strings of fretless bass to do my walking-bass-plus-comping-thing.
I’m in a movie! A friend told me I was in this and I watched it on my last flight home from LA and it’s true. I’m on screen for like 5 seconds and I don’t speak or anything, but I mean, I’m in a movie! And it’s damn good! Especially if you like documentaries or music tech.
Checking out the Harris Theater concert tonight, now that I live closer to Chicago 😁

how they largely grew from my performance concepts. Big thanks to Ableton and The GRAMMY Museum for putting together such an outstanding event. It was an honor and a privilege to be there!
Educational guru Yeuda Ben-atar gave the best Live/Note/Move/Push crash-course I've ever seen, followed by insightful talks by Jasen Emmons and Brendan Hogan about their work on Sonic Playground. I shared the delicious design-details of my Beat Nexus and Vocal Booth creations and
It will now journey back to Shakey’s hands, and ultimately to another wearer who can benefit from its immense, dare I say, Mojo? Thanks for the outstanding suit Jules!
This amazing three piece green velvet suit was snagged by my dear friend and former manager @djshakeydotcom at her legendary Thrift-On clothing swap party.
It has served me well for many years, appeared at many shows, and helped make me the spokesperson for an ad campaign on billboards in Kyrgyzstan (no joke).
So psyched to discover one of my all time favorite heroes is originally from Urbana IL: https://t.co/noAaGkZ408
I'll be based there beginning in October!
