Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane was suspended by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2022 while she was investigating Phala Phala, then later removed through a Section 194 process backed by the ANC and DA.

Today, the Constitutional Court has confirmed that Parliament acted unconstitutionally in protecting Ramaphosa over Phala Phala. That judgment will make many South Africans question whether Mkhwebane was punished for asking uncomfortable questions and refusing to protect the powerful.

Whether people agreed with her or not, one thing is clear: the political establishment wanted her out, and now the same Phala Phala matter they buried has returned to haunt them.

The reality is that Cyril Ramaphosa will not survive an impeachment process, even if ANC MPs hope to vote against it at the end.

An impeachment inquiry will open the door to public scrutiny, cross-examination, internal records, witness testimonies and evidence being placed before the nation, for all to see.

This is precisely what the ANC tried to block through its unconstitutional 2022 vote against proceeding with the Section 89 impeachment process.

The independent panel chaired by former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo did not make final findings against Cyril Ramaphosa.

It merely found that there was sufficient prima facie evidence for Parliament to conduct a full inquiry.

But the ANC understood that the danger was never only the final vote!

The danger was the public scrutiny itself!

The hearings, the evidence, the witnesses, the cross-examination, and the exposure of internal conduct before the people of South Africa.

That is why institutions like SARB, SARS and IPID were pressured to suppress, classify or withhold information connected to the matter. The objective was always political containment!

To prevent the full story from ever being publicly ventilated. The inquiry will be a public crucifixion of both the President, and the ANC. #ConCourt #ThankYouEFF

I have observed the exponential growth of the MK Party, but the recent organisational direction through the decisions of the SG is something else, extraordinary and worth to be commended.

In South Africa, I doubt there is any political party that can have Regional Consultative meetings in the entire country in a space of less than a month, Provinces convening branch meetings in a space of one week. All the venues of the Regional meetings full packed to their capacity, with no transport provided by the organisation, just members of the Party organising for themselves to reach to the venues. When they get to the venue, we saw no flying of chairs or infighting amongst them. Indeed this is a people’s organisation for the people. The wrong narrative that “ emkhontweni kubanangwa izikhundla” is dead, the people only want to be led by credible leaders of their choice, hence the necessity of this process.

The process was necessary to intensify the elections machinery, the unfortunate part, there are those who are lamenting that it was flawed and not transparent. I would want to believe some people want to view things through the lenses of factional and selfish interests. This was not a trial and error process, it was well thought of, yes the implementation may have had loopholes in some areas but at the broader scale, the consultation of the members and having their voices and will prevail was inevitable.

It is time to get into elections mood and ceasefire. For those who have been nominated to be in the Elections Teams, don’t brag about it, take it as an honour to serve and deliver elections for the Party. For those who didn’t make it, you are likely to be aggrieved, but please do understand only 15 members are needed to coordinate but everyone is needed to participate and be an Organizer by their rights of being members of the Party.

Lastly, let’s mind what are we posting about the Party on social media, if you don’t have anything good to post, rather keep it on yourself, if you hate me for example, and posting is a matter of life and death, rather post about me as Khubisa from Ezikoshi, not about me as MK member.

Congratulations to Cde SG, Sbonelo Nomvalo for achieving this splendiferous milestone, plus the planned Policy Conference coming soon, in just two months in office, this is extraordinary.
