I've been loving digging into all this so much. It helps my own ary, and is just so interesting and innovative to me. And I think would be so valuable to have put all together
Fellow disabled artists! I'm really interested in what adaptations you've made to your space/tools/medium etc to make it accessible. I'm so interested in accessible art for rec therapy and am making a kind of guide.
I have scoured the internet and have tons, but people are so creative, very DIY, or have encountered problems I hadn't thought of. Here are a few examples of the things I've found
@LA_Knight89 It's funny because I used to find them quite comfy as long as they were a not super scratchy material and fit well. But now that I've rarely worn them in the past year, they feel so uncomfortable compared to leggings etc π
I recently was able to start dance trapeze and I think it's my new favorite apparatus π₯° it really speaks to me! even though man it's painful sometimes π
The amount of cruelty it takes to traumatize someone with your neglect of their health, and then blame their poor health on being traumatized is obscene.
At my doctor's appointment the other day, because I saw another neuropsych against every instinct in my body, he had the audacity to say that I "had an unusual degree of concern about my physical functioning"
I don't care what degree of injury, illness or problem I have, I will never, ever speak with or entertain a neuropsychologist again. I could have a stroke, show signs of dementia, have another TBI and still I will never give them a single word.
With being away from Twitter, I haven't had a chance to share my new art series. It's brought me so much inspiration to my art and giving me so much joy. It's a series of aerialists and pole dancers depicted with wings. Ive become obsessed with multimedia art lately.
Starting multimedia and exploring different mediums for my art really helped me overcome some of my visualization issues with my TBI. Because a lot of these are actually separated pieces, that I'm able to move around till they're where they need to be. I've just loved this so far
Beyond the more literal and obvious inspiration for the wings, I also like them as a representation of how much freedom and transformation aerials has brought me since I began. For my health most physical and mental, TBI recovery, and just general enjoyment.
