Itβs been a year since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Since then, 14 states have banned most abortions, leaving millions of women and girls with nowhere to turn for the care they need.Β Β
And yet, there are reasons to hope.Β
After Roe v. Wade was overturned, voters in Michigan, California, and Vermont helped enshrine abortion rights in their state constitutions. And governors in states like Nevada, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania have signed executive orders to protect abortion access.
You canβt go to work, to the MALL, to the grocery store, to your church, to the movies or the bank.
You canβt attend a concert, go to a dance class or go to see your doctor. You canβt ring a doorbell, use a leaf blower, hop in a car, pull down a driveway, bounce a ball, or ask the neighbor to keep it down.
You canβt check out a farmerβs market or mail something at the post office or go to a parade, and you certainly canβt send your kids to school without worrying that someone will get shot.
That someone you LOVE will get shot.
Or that YOU will get shot.
This is where we are now.
This is not normal.
And this is not fucking ok.
Itβs NOT fucking ok.
BREAKING: A First responder in the Texas mall shooting pours water over the bullsh*t GOP narrative:
βIt wasn't mental health that killed these people, it was an automatic rifle with bullets,β he said.
βPrayers and condolences won't bring these people back. We need action in the federal and state legislatures for better gun control,β witness Steven Spainhouer told MSNBC.
βIβm saying this as someone who loves gunsβ¦.I'm a former police officer. Iβm a former Army officer.β
Spainhouer rushed desperately to aid those wounded and dying after shots rang out a little after 3:30 p.m. May 6.
He said the victims had such horrific injuries that they had to be loaded into police cars because ambulances would not have gotten them to nearby trauma facilities fast enough.Β
He also said he also found a child, who survived while covered by his protective mother who had been killed.
Ultimately, Spainhouer says what he witnessed Saturday will haunt him for the rest of his life.Β
Now, heβs calling on Congress to DO SOMETHING.
Thank you former officer Spainhouer for speaking out! π
