Let's talk about floods and climate change in the Midlands. Last night I showed just a decade of Severn levels in Worcester (where we were live) and every red dot is a flood event in the city. They're getting more frequent. I said you could do this for any midlands river... 1/7

Yesterday our teams rescued 120 juvenile #salmon from the #RiverTeme in #Shropshire where the river was drying up.

They were caught using electric fishing equipment before being put into an aerated transport tank and released several miles away where the river doesn't dry out🐟

Our Biodiversity Officers have been surveying signs of #otters along riverbanks and canals in #Leicestershire and #Staffordshire and found signs in 10km surveyed, indicating a healthy population🦦

The data will be used in the @Mammal_Society 6th National Otter Survey of England.

The rain in our patch in the last day or so has helped to make some rivers flow but certain sections of the #RiverDore #Herefordshire were still too low on oxygen for trout to survive.

Yesterday we rescued 13 #trout plus #eels & relocated them downstream to deeper flowing water.
