People with #asthma were 7% less likely to suffer exacerbations if having an asthma self-management plan & 4% less likely if they were partially vaccinated vs COVID-19 than fully vaccinated.

This week, we're showcasing how data-driven research can help us improve people’s health.
We need more investment in research & innovation because #RespiratoryResearchMatters.

One example of the Centre's work in health data research, is the development of an algorithm to predict asthma events. #RespiratoryResearchMatters
The algorithm, based on a dataset sourced from @CPRD was validated via @SAILDatabank.

There is a substantial global burden of asthma, hay fever and eczema in adults, which represents a major global public health problem. Accessible, affordable, equitable and effective strategies are needed to reduce this burden across the life-course. https://t.co/MYeaAMUo9U
So happy to be part of AUKCAR and see all these great work from colleagues and students on #Children and #YoungPeople on #WorldAsthmaDay. Kudos in trying to bridge the gap in #asthma care
This year's #WorldAsthmaDay focuses on closing gaps in asthma care.
We're supporting the campaign by highlighting the research we have been doing around #Children and #YoungPeople and taking the first steps in closing the gaps for this demographic. (1/8)
This week GINA focusses on raising awareness for clinicians to identify modifiable risk factors, and then optimize care to gain control and prevent #asthma#attacks - Please share @PCRSUK@RCPCHtweets@RCPhysicians @BTSrespiratory @MartinRCGP
Understanding sex-related differences in asthma will pave the way for the development of new, more precise, targeted interventions and enable clinicians to utilise existing treatments more effectively. Read our report here: https://t.co/hd8rtkKBhi
#WomenWithAsthma
🧵It's clear that the ‘one size fits all’ approach to asthma diagnosis, management and treatment doesn't work as effectively for women with asthma. Women experience significantly higher numbers of asthma attacks, and they’re more likely to die from them. This is unacceptable.
Delighted to announce I passed my PhD viva with minor corrections! I am so thankful to have had the opportunity supported by @NHS_Lothian and @AUKCAR@JulietMacArthur @gillian_mcauley @profalexmcmahon @_TracyJackson @RespNprang
